SAN ANGELO, TX --Just after 2:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of West Harris and South Abe Street for the report of a gray 2005 Toyota passenger car who was fleeing the scene of a crash.
On the way to the crash, officers received information that the suspect had pulled into the Shell Gas Station on South Abe Street after the vehicle became disabled. During the investigation, officers identified the driver as 17-year-old Adan Gonzalez.
Gonzalez had rear-ended a white Dodge Ram pickup that had been stopped at the light on South Abe and West Harris. When the driver of the Dodge, a 22-year-old San Angelo man, talked to Gonzalez he reportedly told the man not to call the police and then fled the area. The victim then followed Gonzalez to the Shell Station.
Once he arrived at the parking lot, Gonzalez exited the car and fled on foot. One of the officers located and attempted to stop him, but he disregarded police commands and a foot pursuit ensued.
Gonzalez was eventually taken into custody in a parking lot near the 400 block of West Beauregard.
He was initially charged with Evading Arrest Detention but then was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana after police found marijuana inside the vehicle.
Gonzalez also received citations for Failure to Control Speed, No Driver’s License, and Failure to Stop and Leave Information.
