Woman Killed in Crash with 18-wheeler

 

ODESSA, TX – Tuesday morning a 54-year-old Monahans woman died following a crash in southeast Odessa, according to a release from the Odessa Police Department.

Police officers responded to the scene off of Interstate 20 and East Loop 338 at roughly 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in reference to a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a smaller sedan.

Reports indicate the 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of the 5900 block of East Interstate 20, meanwhile the Nissan Sentra, which was driven by Genoveva Hernandez was headed eastbound in the inside lane of the 5900 block of East Interstate 20.

Further investigation revealed that Hernandez made an unsafe lane change and was struck by the 18-wheeler. Hernandez was transported to a local hospital for medical assistance where she later succumbed to her injuries. OPD notes there were no other injuries to report at this time.
