Home Destroyed In Early Morning Fire

ABILENE, TX – Abilene Firefighters fought for nearly 40 minutes to control a house fire that obliterated a home in the early morning hours Wednesday.

According to KTXS, emergency personnel received the call around 4:40 a.m. and responded to a home located on 16th and Chestnut.

Once firefighters realized the home could not be salvaged they entered what is known as “defensive mode” and focused on containing the fire to one house. An adjacent structure suffered damage after a carport caught on fire.

The single occupant of the home, identified as Hunter Deem, made it out of the house safely, but it is unknown if his dog survived the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by an investigator with the fire department.
