Police: Suspect Attempted to Burn Down House to Cover Up Burglary

 

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department is currently searching for a burglar they allege tried to burn down the house he robbed as a way to cover up the burglary.

According to CBS7, a suspect broke into a home in the 1400 block of Yorktown Drive at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5. After stealing a power tool and a DVR for the security system, police allege the suspect “took measures to burn the residence down."

Police found evidence of arson in the home and the case is being investigated as both a burglary and arson.

No details have been released regarding the identity of the suspect.
