SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police officers are investigating a serious crash Sunday morning that ended with a pickup mangled under the Loop 306 bridge over Ben Ficklin Rd. in east San Angelo.

No word yet on who was driving the pickup or what condition the driver is in.
San Angelo Police Department Traffic Division investigating officer Bradshaw said the pickup appeared to be traveling north on Loop 306 when it exited roadway and hit pole in the median between traffic lanes. It appears the pickup then went down the concrete embankment between the traffic lanes and crashed at the bottom near the roadway.
Bradshaw says it appears there was one occupant in the pickup.
Police later said the driver and sole occupant of the truck died at the scene. Here's the follow-up story.
