Wildfire Threatens San Angelo Elementary School on New Years Eve

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – At 4:00 p.m. New Years Eve, officers with San Angelo Police Department responded to a smoke report in a field behind Belaire Elementary School in east San Angelo. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a wildfire and notified dispatch that the fire department was needed.

When San Angelo Fire Department trucks and personnel arrived, they identified multiple fires in a wooded area.

Two brush trucks were brought to the scene and they created access to the fires. Multiple engines combated the fire from two sides, allowing firefighters to put it out relatively quickly.

According to fire department personnel, no one was injured in the fire and the fire marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire. No other details are available at this time.
