Elderly Man Killed after Running Yield Sign on Frontage Road

COLORADO CITY, TX -- An elderly man died on Friday morning after a crash on I-20's frontage road.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on November 15, at around 6:20 a.m. troopers with the DPS were dispatched to the I-20 frontage road just two miles west of Colorado City for the report of a major motor vehicle accident.

When they arrived, the troopers found a 2019 Ford Pick-up and a 2003 Chevrolet Pick-up that hide collided in the middle of the roadway.

After further investigation the troopers determined that the Ford was heading west on the service road and was approaching a yield sign. The Chevy was heading eastbound and was attempting to enter the interstate using the on-ramp when it was struck by the Ford who disregarded the yield sign.

The driver of the Ford, Michael Scales, 62, of Colorado City was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Chevy was taken to the Mitchel County Hospital with serious injuries.
