Suspect Arrested in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash

 

ODESSA, TX – Early morning motorcycle crash leaves one person dead in Odessa. According to CBS7, police are investigating the deadly crash at E 8th Street and Highway 80.

One death has been confirmed, but no other information is available regarding injuries. Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 80 are shut down, between Dale and 8th Street, until further notice.

UPDATE 9/25 @ 3:20 pm

Police have identified Edgar Jesus Ibarra, 23, as the suspect in the early morning motorcycle crash around 1:45 a.m. on Hwy 80. The victim passed away at the scene and was identified at 32-year-old Nau Ulate. 

According to police when they arrived at the scene, they found a Yamaha motorcycle and a Chevrolet Tahoe that had been involved in an accident. The subsequent investigation revealed that Ulate was traveling east on 2nd Street at a high speed and lost control of his motorcycle causing him to be on the roadway.  Ibarra was also traveling eastbound and ran over Ulate.

Odessa Police Department revealed that Ibarra was intoxicated at the time of the accident and was charged and arrested. Ibarra has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a Second-Degree Felony. Investigation is still ongoing,
