ABILENE, TX -- The 22-year-old died last night after crashing into the back of a semi on I-20.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on August 29 at around 7:30 p.m., a trooper was dispatched to I-20 just half a mile from Abilene.
When the trooper arrived he found a 22-year-old male, who was later identified as Casey Rachal, 22, of Natchitoches, LA, who was dead at the scene.
After further investigation the trooper determined, a 1993 Chevrolet pickup and a 2006 Semi were traveling East on IH-20, the semi was in front of the pickup. While in a construction zone, the semi slowed and was merging left due to right lane being closed. The pickup was unable to control his speed and crashed into the back end of the trailer being towed by the semi.
The driver of the pickup was not wearing his seatbelt.
