Head on Collision Leaves One Dead, Three Hospitalized

 

RANKIN, TX -- One man died yesterday after a head on collision. 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on July 11 DPS Trooper Heyward was dispatched to FM 1555 7 miles north of Rankin for the report of a major motor vehicle accident. 

When he arrived he found a 2002 pickup and a 2019 Chevorlet Silverado had collided head on with each other. 

The driver of both vehicle's were transported to Shannon. The passenger in the pickup was transported to the Upton County Hospital. The passenger of the Silverado, 24-year-old Oliver Rodriguez of Odessa, was pronounced dead on scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt. 

According to Trooper Heyward, the pickup was traveling east on FM 1555. The Silverado was traveling west FM 1555.  The pickup’s left front tire blew out, the driver lost control and entered the westbound lane striking the Silvarado head on.
