SAN ANGELO, TX -- A pedestrian trying to cross Loop 306 was taken to the hospital on Friday after being hit by a truck.
According to Officer Welch with the San Angelo Police's Traffic Division, said the collision happened in the eastbound lanes of West Loop 306. A pedestrian was trying to cross the eastbound lanes when a Toyota Tundra tried to swerve out of the way. The pedestrian was still struck by the side of the truck, Welch said.
The driver of the Tundra will not be cited for anything because a pedestrian is not supposed to cross the highway, Welch said. There's no word if the pedestrian will receive a citation.
"It's just kinda one of those freak accidents you don't run into a whole lot. Somebody ran across the loop, what do you do," Welch said.
The pedestrian was transported to Shannon Medical Center with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was reportedly alert when he was being transported to the hospital.
