Newlyweds and Pilot Die in Crash Hours After Saying I Do

 

UVALDE, TX -- Newlyweds Bailee Ackerman Byler and William Troy Byler, III died early Sunday morning just hours after they said, "I do." They left their wedding in a Bell 206B Helicopter according to KTXS12.

The pilot, Gerald Green Lawrence also died in the crash.

The crash occurred after midnight around Chalk Bluff Park near Highway 55. The helicopter crashed into a hill about a mile away from the family ranch and investigators were not able to reach it until later Sunday morning.

It is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration according to News West 9.

Bailee Ackerman Byler and Will Byler were both seniors of at Sam Houston State University. 

12News reports that the 76-year-old helicopter pilot, who got married in April of this year, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and leaves behind a wife, two daughters, three stepdaughters, and two grandchildren, one due to be born today.
