Odessa Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Four Vehicles

 

ODESSA, TX -- (PRESS RELEASE) An Odessa man is dead following a major crash that occurred yesterday in South Odessa.

On October 25, 2018 at approximately 7:35 a.m., Odessa Police responded to IH-20 and Grant in reference to a major crash involving several vehicles.

Investigation revealed that a gray 2014 Toyota Tundra, being operated by Osvaldo Ravelo, 45 years of age, of Florida, was traveling eastbound in the 300 block of West IH-20.

A Gray 2018 Ford Raptor, being operated by Julio Estrada, 36 years of age, was traveling eastbound on IH-20, behind the Toyota Tundra.

A white 2009 Ford Focus, being operated by Thomas Morado, 27 years of age, of Odessa, was traveling eastbound on IH-20, behind the Ford Raptor.

A black 2017 Dodge Ram, being operated by Mitchell Alexander Perry, 29 years of age, of Oklahoma, was traveling eastbound on IH-20, behind the Ford Focus.

Investigation revealed that Perry failed to control speed and struck the back of the Ford Focus, causing the Ford Focus to strike the back of the Ford Raptor, and causing the Ford Raptor to strike the back of the Toyota Tundra.

Morado was pronounced deceased on scene and next of kin were notified. Perry was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no reports of any other injuries.

At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
