Three-Vehicle Crash Kills 1 in Coleman County

 

SANTA ANNA, TX-- The Texas Department of Public Safety says one person died in a three-vehicle crash one mile east of Santa Anna on Oct. 15.

DPS identified Billy Joy Bennett, 86, of Brownwood as the deceased. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the crash happened when a Volvo truck tractor was traveling east on the wet roads of US Highway 67. The truck then jackknifed and crossed the center line.

The truck then hit Bennett, who was traveling in a 1998 Lincoln Town Car with Barbara Stanke Bennett, 84, and a 2017 Ford Fusion.

Mrs. Bennett was transported to Brownwood with serious, incapacitating injuries according to the initial crash report.

The two occupants of the Fusion were transported to Coleman with incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the truck also sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported to Coleman.
