18-Wheeler Hits & Kills Horse & Injures Rider in Carlsbad

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A horse was killed and rider injured near Carlsbad just north of San Angelo Sunday afternoon.  

Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers continue to investigate the crash. 

San Angelo Live's Sam Fowler was on the scene late Sunday and says the 18-wheeler hit a horse and rider on U.S. 87 North at Carlsbad Loop in Carlsbad. 

There is an unconfirmed report that the rider of the horse went to the hospital by ambulance. 

Sources at the scene say the horse was killed in the crash. 

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. 

This is a developing story and DPS troopers continue to investigate the crash.

With all due sympathy for both the horse and rider, I wouldn't be surprised to hear the "Let's legislate all danger out of life" liberals start pushing for helmet laws for equestrians. Meanwhile, I'll be working on a design for my new horse helmet.
