Sonoma Driver Trapped in Truck After Crash on Sunset Near Target

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The driver of a GMC Sonoma pickup was temporarily trapped inside her vehicle after a crash on Sunset near Target Wednesday morning.

San Angelo Police Department Investigating Officer Loudermilk says the driver of the Sonoma was southbound on Sunset and a Toyota Tundra pickup was parked in the Target parking lot waiting to pull out onto Sunset.

A large utility truck was attempting to turn into the parking lot.  The driver of the Tundra pulled out onto Sunset and crashed with the Sonoma.  The crash caused the doors on the Sonoma to jam and officers at the scene said the driver was temporarily trapped in the vehicle.

The driver of the Tundra was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way from a private drive.

Officer Loudermilk said there were no injuries reported at the scene but the driver of the Sonoma was going to the hospital in a private vehicle.  Traffic was blocked for a short time while the crash was investigated and then the vehicles were removed from the road way.
