If you guys think San Angelo drivers are below substandard try driving on I-20 between Midland and Odessa. I drive about 5,500 miles per month and this takes me through Mid-Odessa every three weeks. The speed limit on I-20 a couple of years ago was 75 mph. People drove 90 mph. Quite a few accidents occurred that obviously had fatalities involved. So, needless to say, the speed limit was reduced to 65 mph.....did it help? No...People are driving 80 and 85 mph in a 65 mph environment. The results will be the same.....Wrecks with fatalities. When the traffic slows (due to perpetual road construction) people make their own off ramps/ on ramps etc. Last week I was stopped in traffic due to a jack-knifed 18-wheeler when three vehicles whizzed by in the emergency lane at 55 or 60 mph. All accidents waiting to happen. The only answer to this lawless situation is to add the law into the equation. I truly believe that the Midland County SO and Ector Count SO and the Texas DPS should work the hell out of that stretch of highway and hammer the hell out of offenders until they get a clear message that there are laws and they are there for a reason.... Save Lives! Straighten up and drive right!
