San Angelo Man Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter After Crash in Del Rio

DEL RIO, TX-- A 63-year-old man from San Angelo was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter following a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 277 Sunday morning, according to the Del Rio News Herald.

Fraire Rodrigo Luna was charged after the 1:30 a.m. crash where he collided with Heberaide Maria Garcia, 28, north of the city, according to Texas DPS Sgt. Maria Montalvo.

Luna was reportedly driving south in a 2008 Ford F-250 when he collided with Garcia’s 2011 Ford Expedition as she attempted to make a U-Turn on the highway.

Montalvo told the Del Rio News Herald that Garcia died in the collision. Luna was reportedly uninjured in the crash.

A report from the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office said Luna was charged with a second degree felony. He was released later that day from the Val Verde County Jail on a $20,000 bond.

The Del Rio News Herald said a report said Border Patrol Agents from a nearby checkpoint were first on scene and deputies with the Val Verde County Sheriff’s office assisted with the scene.
