Two Killed in Crash South of Abilene

 

ABILENE, TX -- Two people were killed on U.S. 83 south of Abilene Friday afternoon.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Fred Biddle, the driver of a 2011 Buick Regal was traveling east on Remington Road. 

The driver, 49-year-old Michael Frank Barker of Abilene, pulled out into U.S. 83 in front of a 2006 Dodge Pickup pulling a trailer.  

The pickup crashed into the passenger side of the Buick.  Barker was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at an Abilene hospital.  

The passenger in the Buick, 35-year-old Joseph Alfred Silas of Abilene, was pronounced dead at the crash scene.  

The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries.  

Sgt. Biddle reports the weather was clear and dry.  The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
