Affidavit: He Pointed the Ram 2500 at Them, Revved its Engine, and Sped At Them at a High Rate of Speed

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The viral internet video of a red pickup smashing through the doors of the Walmart Super Center on Sherwood Way on June 28 garnered national attention.

Today, the individual responsible for all that destruction is in jail.

Caleb J. Milton Wilson, 19, was booked by the San Angelo Police Department into the Tom Green County Jail Wednesday.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count  of criminal mischief.

As we reported when this incident happened, a 19-year-old Eldorado man is facing multiple Felony charges after he used his truck to drive through the Walmart Supercenter located at 5501 Sherwood Way in San Angelo.

Police were dispatched to the store at 12:41 a.m. for the report of a major motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and the Walmart building. As police arrived to the storefront, they observed a red 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck exiting the building through the store’s northeast entrance.

Exiting the store:

Officers utilized lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the truck; however, the truck’s driver disregarded their attempt and drove at a high rate of speed through the parking lot where it collided with an unoccupied 2007 Toyota Camry.

Following that collision, the truck continued at high speeds to the Murphy USA gas station located at 5525 Sherwood Way where the driver was taken into custody after a brief resistance to the application of handcuffs.

The arrest affidavit signed by Justice of the Peace Susan Werner provides more details of the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges Wilson earned when allegedly smashing through the front doors of the Walmart Supercenter in San Angelo with his Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck.

According to the police investigation and interviews with the victims, the evening began when a female friend of Mr. Wilson was visiting from out of town with family and agreed to go riding around San Angelo with Wilson, also 19, so they could catch up on old times. The two went to school together before she moved away, police state.

At around midnight, Wilson told her that he needed to get some water. So he drove her to the Walmart at 5501 Sherwood Way.

Once inside the store, the two became separated. The female victim used the self-checkout lanes to purchase some items when she realized Wilson wasn’t with her. Something may have happened inside the Walmart when she wasn’t around, because she told police that he reappeared as she was finishing the checkout process, and then told her to meet him outside.

Outside, Wilson was very upset, the victim said, to the point that she became nervous. Other reports revealed the two were in an argument when another Walmart shopper, a Good Samaritan saw the commotion and offered to help her. He said he witnessed Wilson grab a grease gun and use it to break out the driver’s side window of the now infamous red 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup during the commotion.

That’s when he approached the two to ask if everything was okay.

The affidavit states the girl told him that she was scared of Wilson and the way he was acting.

The good samaritan suggested to her that she tell Wilson she had to use the ladies’ room as an excuse to get away from him by going back inside Walmart. The man escorted woman back into the store, leaving Wilson behind in the parking lot.

Once inside, the two waited for a short amount of time before going back outside, just outside the doors of the grocery side of the Walmart Supercenter, to see if Wilson had departed the area.

Wilson must have seen the two reappear because the arrest affidavit states he repositioned his Ram 2500 pickup to face the two in the sliding glass doorway and revved his engine.

Suddenly, Wilson accelerated the truck and sped towards the woman and the man in the Walmart doorway. The man told police he grabbed the woman and pulled her with him, out of the path of Wilson’s Ram pickup, just in time to avoid getting run over. Wilson passed them and crashed the Ram truck through the front doors of Walmart at a high rate of speed. Fearing for their lives, the two fled outside as Wilson drove further into the interior of the store. The police reported Wilson drove the truck as far back into the store as the cereal aisle, tearing up displays and freezers along the way. All of it was reported to have caused $500,000 in damage.

Police said surveillance video now in their possession supports the story of the victims.

Wilson was booked into the Tom Green County Jail July 11 at 12:19 p.m., 14 days after the crime. When Wilson was apprehended at the scene of the crime June 28, police said he would be taken to the hospital before getting booked into jail. His charges for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (the Dodge Ram truck), and one count of criminal mischief causing more than $300,000 in damage set his total bond at $80,000.

That incident was total disregard for civil actions in our society.

He should repay every cent of damage to wal mart or their insurance company, if it takes the rest of his life.

He knew what he was doing was wrong.

Such behavior cannot be tolerated.

He should be made to pay the price for committing the crime as should everyone. I for one am tired of seeing people with blatant disregard for the law get a slap on the wrist. This man needs to serve an ample amount of time in jail and as you said pay back every cent of damages to Wal-Mart or their insurance agency.

I get really upset when I hear about people using aggression to intimidate other's, especially when it's a man treating a woman that way. I know that most guy's who act that way are really just insecure coward's, and only treat people that way when nobody else can see, but some will act a fool in public as well.

I get scared when the 230 pound, sweaty dude with the ninja turtle, schwarzenegger vein's is running around acting like he's going to whoop anyone that might possibly be upset with his action's, after all, you never know what somebody might be capable of.

The reason I get scared isn't because I'm afraid of getting whooped, I've always said that I can take a whooping better than most folks can dish them out... I get scared not because of what they're doing, but because I may have to get involved to stop a threat... Gangster's think they scare everybody, especially if you give one a gun, what they don't realize is that folks like me ARE SCARED, we are scared that we may have to shoot a gangster, not scared that one may shoot us.

I thank God that we in this city have some really cool headed officer's and citizen's, but we also have a criminal element that's not firing on all cylinder's due to drug's or whatever other mitigating factor's that make somebody stupid as they are in the moment. I leave the house, and I'm like, please people, don't be stupid... If you do, do it somewhere else, I don't want to be the guy that has to step in to help, not because my heart's not right, or I'm not skilled and able, but because I don't want to hurt anyone, even though it would be justified, because I will have to be scrutinized and questioned over it, and I prefer to be out of the ever scrutinizing eye of the judicial system... The longer, the better.

POINT... Men, don't be coward's, treat women and other's with respect. If you call out in foolishness, someone in this city, from police to citizen, will answer the call! Even if they don't want to.

It's great to treat others as you'd like to be treated. I give people the benefit of the doubt, until they give me reason to do otherwise -- then it becomes 'treat others as they have treated you', sometimes with interest.

This guy and the other nutless , car-ramming idiot are cut from the same cloth. They don't respect themselves, first of all, which is why they allow little meaningless spats with females to ruffle their feathers. I don't have high opinions of criminals to begin with, but within that peer group, these types sit at the bottom on the totem pole IMO.

Criminologists have a theory about certain men who assault and/or kill women: they use their weapons in place of their "organ". I'm almost certain there's a Freudian connection to be made here -- angry, insecure men ramming cars into objects, getting a rise out of the public, for an inability to get a rise out of themselves.

Well good grief.... You can just tell by looking at the photo that this guy brings a whole new definition to the word crazy.... They need to re-implement mental asylums across the country. This weirdo doesn't need jail, he needs a life time room in an asylum right next to nurse Ratchets office........

How does one look 'crazy'? Yes, he may have mental health issues, but you can't tell by a photo. It was stated in another article that he was acting strangely, erratic . It sounds to me like drugs wee involved, or a combo of drugs and mental illness. Drop the 'crazy' horseshit, it isn't 1818....

One can not be diagnose Crazy by way of appearance. Nor can the defense be Crazy Now I do not know all the facts. This incident in this case is the rejection of "Matters of the Heart". Love is Blind and in the case very stupid. Half a million in damages. Many times the one rejected goes out and commits a bad deed. But how many others have been in this similar case of "Matters of the Heart" and not done destruction or worst "bodily injury". Have to pay the price.
