San Saba Youth Pastor Killed in Head On Crash While Driving Church Bus

HILL COUNTY, TX -- Three people are dead following a head on crash involving a San Saba Church bus in Hill County.

KWTX is reporting the fatal crash happened Friday afternoon near the Hill and Johnson County lines. The Hill County Sheriff's Office said the buses were driving on Highway 174 at CR 1106 near Blum, just south of the Johnson County line, when the crash happened around 3:10 p.m.

According to KWTX,  a husband and wife were driving separate church buses from San Saba when a Dodge pickup crossed the centerline and crashed head on into the bus driven by Teresa Hoyt.  The second bus driven by her husband, Deryl Hoyt, was able to avoid the wreckage.

Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt are youth pastors.

Mrs. Hoyt was flown by helicopter to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco where she was pronounced dead.

Five of the girls in Teresa’s van were injured and they’re currently split between Cook Children’s Medical Center and Texas Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

The DPS official said the driver and passenger in the pickup were killed and pronounced dead at the scene.
