Distracted Driver Crashes into Parked Car on Valley View

SAN ANGELO,TX -- A San Angelo man distracted by the music app on his cell phone crashed into a parked car Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of Valley View Blvd.

San Angelo Police Department investigating officer Bylsma said the driver of a tan 2000 Honda Accord was illegally using his cell phone when he swerved wide right while eastbound on Valley View and struck a white Dodge Challenger sending it up into a yard.

The driver sustained minor injuries to his face and refused to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.  Bylsma says he will go by private vehicle.

The driver was issued four citations; one for texting while driving, one for unsafe turning, one for failure to display a driver’s license, and one for failing to change his address on his driver’s license.

During the investigation officers found drug paraphernalia in his vehicle and he will be cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Officer Bylsma said the driver didn’t appear to be impaired at the scene.
