Pickup Crashes Under a Bridge Near Wall

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- This morning, Tom Green County Sheriff's responded to a one vehicle crash under the bridge on Roberts Rd. crossing N US 87 near Wall.

According to first responders at the scene, the white late model Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on US 87 when the driver fell asleep.  The pickup left the roadway and traveled into the median becoming airborne and striking a bridge pillar under the eastbound bridge.  

The driver was the only person in the pickup.  He was transported to San Angelo Community hospital with undisclosed injuries.  

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating the crash.  Texas Department of Transportation engineers are investigating the integrity of the bridge pillar.  First responders from the Wall Volunteer Fire Department, Tom Green County Sheriff's deputies and DPS troopers responded to the crash.
