San Angelo Man Dead After Motorcycle Crash in Odessa

 

ODESSA, TX — Earlier today,  LIVE! released information about a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a truck. A Department of Public Safety (DPS) press release has now released the names of the two deceased bike riders; one of the riders was a local San Angelo man. 

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, a 2013 Ford F-150 was traveling east on 52nd Street and approaching SL 338 where a 2013 Harley Davidson was traveling north on SL 338. The driver of the F-150, Marc Simon, 48, of San Angelo, failed to yield right of way and entered the intersection of SL 338 and 52nd Street where he stuck the northbound motorcycle. 

The two motorcyclists, Justin L. Cathey, 43, of San Angelo, and Jennifer L. Jordan, 36, of Odessa, were pronounced dead on the scene by Ector County Medical Examiner Anna Allen.  Both Cathey and Jordan were not wearing their helmets. 

The weather and road conditions at the time of the crash were clear/cloudy and dry. The posted speed limit at the location of the crash was 55 mph. 

 Trooper Travis McCracken, DPS Odessa, investigated this accident and Trooper William Kothmann, DPS Odessa, assisted.
