Woman Dead After Hit-And-Run Accident Near I-20; Vehicle Found

 

ABILENE, TEXAS – Abilene police have located the SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident from early this morning.

The accident happened on the eastbound I-20 service road, (East Stamford Rd.), near the Whistle Stop RV Resort between Westlake Road and North Judge Ely Blvd. in Abilene.

Police say the victim, Robbin Caldwell, 55 of Abilene, was walking along the service road when she was struck by an unknown vehicle just after midnight. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver did not stop or call 911.

Abilene Police Spokesman Rick Tomlin said the Ford Escape, thought to be the car involved in the accident, was located near Potosi. The SUV is in police custody, and is being processed by Detectives, according to an Abilene police social media post.

The investigation is still ongoing. No arrests have been announced at this time.
