SAPD Investigates Accidental Drowning of 12-Year-Old Girl

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the apparent accidental drowning of a local 12-year-old girl Thursday evening.

Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, on March 30, 2017 at approximately 8:04 p.m., San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of Upton Street for the report of an unconscious person.

"At approximately 8:07 p.m., the first responding patrol officer arrived and located the victim unconscious on the ground next to an above-ground swimming pool, surrounded by family members," Gonzalez said. "The Officer performed CPR until Medics arrived." 

The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Judge J.P. McGuire.  Gonzalez noted that an autopsy was requested.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing and no other information is available.
