Elderly Drivers Collide After One Fails to Control Speed

SAN ANGELO, TX - Just before 11 a.m., three vehicles filled with elderly citizens crashed after one of the elderly drivers failed to control his speed in the 500 block of N. Bryant Blvd.

At the scene, Officer Cobey Bradshaw said the driver of a black Mercury Grand Marquis was on the access road proceeding westbound. There were two vehicles in front him, and he hit the first vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry, which knocked into a third vehicle, a tan Chevrolet Silverado.

"In the third vehicle, the passenger went to the hospital," said Officer Bradshaw. However, her injuries were not life threatening.

Officer Bradshaw said witnesses at the scene said the driver actually hit the Camry, reversed, hit it again, and the Camry hit the Silverado a second time. The officer said the elderly driver wasn't trying to leave the scene. Instead, he possibly got "mixed up on his pedals."

"So when he reversed, he was probably trying to get off the vehicle, then he pulled back forward again," said Officer Bradshaw.
