Odessa Police Identify Man Killed in I-20 Accident

 

ECTOR COUNTY, TX - A portion of Interstate 20 has been closed due to crash in Ector County.

According to Newswest 9, eastbound lanes of interstate 20 at Grandview Avenue closed after an 18-wheeler overturned.

Traffic is being rerouted in the area. There hasn't been an estimated time of when the lanes will open again. 

Update: 12:30 p.m.

CBS 7 has provided an update on the fatal crash on the eastbound lanes of I-20. The lanes between Grandview and JBS Parkway are expected to remain closed while Odessa Police investigate the scene.

The Odessa Police Department confirmed that a driver involved in the crash has died. The identity of the driver has not been released at this time.

Update: 5 p.m.

NewsWest 9 reported that the man who died in the rollover crash earlier this afternoon was Jeremy King, 29, from Clyde, Texas. King collided with an 18-wheeler and rolled his vehicle. 

"[The] investigation revealed that, for unknown reasons, King's vehicle crossed over the center line and struck the back of a tanker truck, causing him to lose control and roll into the median before being ejected," said the news source.

The Odessa Police have not issued any citations at the moment, but the investigation is still ongoing.
