SAN ANGELO, TX – Just before 11 a.m. this morning, San Angelo firefighters responded to their third structure fire since Sunday night.
Fire Marshal Investigator Joanna Jackson referenced the fire last night on Cauley Lane (see here), and one this morning in the Paul Ann neighborhood.
Jackson said this fire started in the 500 block of East 49th St.
“The fire was called in by the homeowner,” Jackson said. “She noticed some smoke.”
Jackson added that the homeowner came home, saw the smoke, grabbed her grandkids, and dialed 9-1-1 after realizing the smoke was too much for her to handle on her own.
Initially, two units responded to the home, and when they got there, no flames were showing. It was just smoke and charring that took place, Jackson said.
Jackson added that firefighters contained the fire quickly, and it remained on the outside northeast corner. It never penetrated the interior of the home thanks to the sheathing and tar paper.
“I cannot tell you what started it. I couldn’t locate it,” said Jackson. “So we’ll have to keep investigating.”
