Driver Not Wearing Seat Belt Dies in Vehicle Rollover Crash on CR 4114

Just after midnight Saturday morning, a 40-year-old driver not wearing his seat belt died in a one-vehicle crash on CR 4114, about 1 mile east of Hermleigh.

DPS officials said David Gene Alexander, of Breckenridge, was traveling west on CR 4114 when he lost control of his 1996 Chevrolet Silverado in a curve. As a result, he over corrected and rolled the vehicle.

Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder.

Colorado City DPS Trooper Thomas Simpson investigated the crash. The road conditions at the time were clear and dry, and the posted speed limit is 60 miles per hour.

DPS reiterated that “seat belts save lives.”
