24-Year-Old Killed in Jones County Collision

 

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) in Abilene stated today that 24-year-old Levi Edward Miller of Hawley, Texas died in a head-on collision yesterday at 1:47 p.m. in Jones County.

According to the DPS report, Miller was traveling northbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer on FM-707, about 6.5 miles east of Hawley, in the southbound lane. Miller crashed into a 2003 Kenworth Truck Tractor driven by Reynaldo Cortez, 59, of Olton, and the Trailblazer caught fire. The truck went into a field on the west side of the road, and came to rest on the roadway. 

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to Abilene Professional Services. Cortez was uninjured.

The crash is still under investigation. DPS Trooper Charles “Dee” Hoover of Abilene is the investigating officer on the case.
