54-Year-Old Abilene Woman Dies in Afternoon Crash

A 54-year-old Abilene woman, Vicki Harries, died at Hendrick Medical Center from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash that occurred just after noon.

According to a press release, dispatch received a call at 12:28 p.m. of a vehicle that crashed at the intersection of Danville and Southwest Drive in Abilene. The investigation and reports show the vehicle was traveling north on Danville when the car veered left and went over the curb and into the grass. The vehicle traveled through the grass a short distance before veering back into the roadway, crossing both lanes of traffic and striking a signal light. The impact knocked the signal light out of operation and caused parts of the vehicle to hit another vehicle.

The Abilene Fire Department responded and used the Jaws of Life to extricate Harris. She was transported to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment of her injuries where she passed away. Next of kin have been notified. The crash is currently under investigation.
