Another Tragedy on the Road in Brown County

This is the week for tragedy on the road in Brown County. A 69-year-old Brooksmith man was killed in a one-vehicle rollover crash on CR 213, about 5 miles southeast of Brooksmith.

On June 6, at 7:03 p.m., DPS officials said Robert Allen Holland was traveling southbound on County Road 213 in a 2008 Dodge Dakota at an unsafe speed for the road conditions. As a result, the driver started to drive off the roadway to the left and overcorrected back to the right. The vehicle went into a side skid across the roadway and rolled over to its left side, and Holland ejected from the vehicle. Holland was not wearing a seatbelt.

Holland was pronounced dead at Brownwood Regional Medical Center and his body was taken to Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.

DPS described the road conditions were sandy, muddy and dirty, and the weather was both clear and cloudy at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
