Hit & Run Driver Flees Scene of Crash

This evening, a Chevy Cruz and Ford Escort were involved in a hit and run in the 3100 block of Travis St. However, the driver of the Escort fled the scene.

Officer Brian Bylsma, with San Angelo’s Traffic Division, responded to call. He said both vehicles were northbound on Travis when the driver of the Escort rear ended the Cruise. The driver of the Escort, identified only as a white male, then exited the car and ran northbound on Travis until turning east onto 37th Street.

The occupants of the Cruise included one adult and two children. According to Bylsma, one of the children sustained non-incapacitating injuries, most likely due to the pressure caused by the seat belt after the impact. The three occupants refused medical treatment and departed the scene.

The driver of the Chevy Cruise received three citations. One for driving with an invalid license, no insurance and a seatbelt violation on a child.

As of right now, there has been no positive ID of the driver who fled the scene, and no further description has been released.
