Officer Gesch, with the San Angelo Police Department, said, at 11:57 a.m., the driver of a black Dodge 1500 pickup was traveling westbound on 14th Street, while the driver of Silver Dodge pickup traveled southbound. The driver of the silver pickup failed to yield at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the black Dodge 1500.
Officer Gesch said the driver of the black Dodge pickup was transported to an area hospital.
Also, the driver of the silver Dodge was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign, driving with an invalid license and no insurance.
Additionally, after the crash occurred, a passenger in the silver Dodge ran from the scene. Officers reported finding syringes in the area; however, Officer Gesch said that incident has nothing to do with this crash and is a separate investigation.

Trust me, we will see many more of these accidents at this intersection. Why the decision to remove the stop light was made makes absolutely no sense. Why fix something when it isn't broke? We have the same situation at other locations where stop lights were removed and replaced with "STOP" signs. More accidents, more injuries, more property damage, not to mention taking Police Officers away from other duties just because some "IDIOTS" at the City of San Angelo, decided to remove the lights. Drive down West Beauregard and you will see what I mean. A once "SAFE" driving zone is now a "RACING & DANGEROUS" driving zone! What will it take to make our City Government Officials understand this?
