54-Year-Old Mereta Man Killed in Collision East of San Angelo

A 54-year-old Mereta, Texas man, Albert B. Terrazas, died yesterday after colliding with another vehicle at an intersection on Lipan Creek Road and Phinney, about 20 miles east of San Angelo.

Justin Baker, with DPS, said the driver of a 2012 Chevrolet 2500, Cody A. Weishuhn, 31, also of Mereta, was traveling east on Lipan Creek Road a little after noon, while Terrazas traveled south on Phinney Road in a 2012 Chevrolet 1500. Weishuhn disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and collided with Terrazas’ vehicle.

Terrazas was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Charles Benham, and Weishuhn suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Baker said both drivers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Additionally, weather and road conditions were clear and dry, and next of kin have been notified.
