An old storage unit next to Julio’s in the 1900 block of South Chadbourne St. suffered minimal damage this afternoon thanks to the fast response by San Angelo firefighters.
Fire Marshal Ross Coleman said the San Angelo Fire Department got a call for a partially involved fire on a storage building in the area at 2:11 p.m.
“We noticed we had three different points of origin,” Coleman said about the investigation. “Nothing on the inside of the structure was burning. What we determined is that there was a power line hitting a metal flashing on the exterior of the building, and then conducting electricity around the structure.”
Coleman added that there were no injuries, and despite the age, the building had little damage.
“This building is about 75 years old minimum,” said Coleman.
Coleman also stated AEP will pull power from the pole so the structure is completely isolated from the energy source.
The storage unit has no ties to Julio’s.
