Crash on Houston Harte Causes Guard Rail Damage

At approximately 3:14 p.m. this afternoon, Officer Brian Bylsma, with San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Investigations, was dispatched to a minor crash in the unit block of Houston Harte in the westbound lane

Bylsma said traffic was westbound on Houston Harte, when, for an unknown reason, the driver of silver Chevy Malibu stopped in the middle of the right lane.

Officer Bylsma said drivers started hitting their brakes to avoid a collision. The driver of a beige Camry was traveling westbound in the left lane, and the driver of a Dodge Magnum was traveling westbound in the right lane.

“The Dodge Magnum started hitting the brakes and swerved into the left lane,” said Bylsma. “The beige Camry also started hitting his brakes trying to stop. He ended up colliding with the bridge embankment.”

Bylsma also said the driver ended up back into the road and collided with the Magnum. He then went across the median and took out about 150 feet guard rail.

“As of right now, no citations have been issued,” stated Officer Bylsma.

Bylsma said he has some contributing factors for the crash, but he still has to confirm those with another officer. He also said no one was hurt.
