Unsafe Speed and Trailer Cause Rollover Crash on Chistoval Road

A rollover crash in the 4900 block of Christoval Road, involving a gray Chevy Suburban with a trailer hooked to the hitch, caused a bit of a delay early this afternoon.

Officer Gesch with the San Angelo Police Department was the investigator on scene and said four people were in the Chevy. Two sustained non-life threatening injures and refused medical treatment from paramedics on scene. Nobody was sent to the hospital.

“The vehicle was traveling northbound at an unsafe speed," Gesch said. "They were either going too fast or the trailer was not properly located.”

Traffic Backed up on 4900 blk of Christoval Road.

Gesch added that the trailer started whipping back and forth, which eventually started dragging the suburban back and forth. This prompted the vehicle to leave the roadway and hit a pipe on the corner of the fence, which caused the vehicle to roll over upside down and take another half turn.

SAPD officers closed off both right lanes heading towards Chadbourne and proceeded to direct traffic after the crash.

The driver was issued citations for driving at an unsafe speed, having no insurance and having expired trailer registration according to officer Gesch.
