Bicyclist Hit, Injured and Driver Flees Scene

A man on a bicycle was seriously injured on N. Bryant at 19th St. and rushed to the hospital with incapacitating injuries after a pickup truck hit him, San Angelo Police Traffic Investigator Steven Quade said.

Police said that Thomas Crocker was crossing Bryant west to east riding his blue bicycle on a clearly marked crosswalk when he was struck by a blue extended cab, late model pickup. The exact year, make and model is unknown because the Hispanic male driving the truck fled the scene, Quade said.

Police are searching for a pickup truck matching the description while CSI investigates the crash scene.

In Texas, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury is a third-degree felony, punishable by two to 10 years in a state prison.

If the injury is not serious, it is a felony punishable by up to one year in a county jail or up to five years in a state prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
