20-Year-Old Killed in One-Vehicle Crash on US 67

While one Wall student continues to fight for his life, another young driver involved in another early morning crash north of San Angelo lost his after overturning his vehicle on FM 1692 and US 67, about 5 miles north of San Angelo.

Justin Baker, Safety Education and Public Information Officer for Texas Department of Public Safety, said this morning, at approximately 12 a.m., Matthew David Freeman, 20, from Santa Fe, Texas, was traveling southbound in his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 on FM 1692. While approaching the intersection of US 67, Freeman, who had been consuming alcohol, disregarded a stop sign. As a result, he traveled across US 67, struck a windmill and overturned.

Freeman was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Kay Longest. Baker noted that Freeman, like other drivers in recent weeks involved in tragic crashes, did not have his seatbelt on.

Trooper Dustin Henderson and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.

Baker said a preliminary crash report will be available for purchase in 10 days at https://cris.dot.state.tx.us/public/Purchase/crashReportSearch.htm.
