At approximately 2 p.m. this afternoon, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a major crash involving an 18-wheeler and Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Loop 306 and US 87. Luckily, no one sustained any injuries.
Justin Baker, Safety Education Public Information Officer for DPS, said the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup pulling a farm trailer was traveling westbound on the access road of US 87 while a 2001 Peterbilt 18-wheeler truck tractor traveled southbound on Loop 306.
“The truck pulling the farm trailer failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and pulled out in front of the 18-wheeler,” explained Baker. “The 18-wheeler struck the truck and the trailer on the passenger side.”
Baker said a total of four people were involved: the driver of the 18-wheeler, and the driver and two passengers in the Chevy.
Baker noted that no one went to the hospital; however, the driver of the Chevy received a citation for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection.
