A Man Who Died in Motorcycle Crash Near Winters was from San Angelo

Department of Public Safety officials have identified the man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident Saturday night on US-83, about 4.3 miles south of Winters, said a press release Wednesday morning.

According to the release, Frederick Allen, 49, of San Angelo was heading north on US-83 and attempted to pass another vehicle without sufficient clearance. To avoid oncoming traffic, the motorcycle veered onto the southbound shoulder. After avoiding a truck-tractor/semi-trailer, Allen struck a 2012 Lincoln Navigator. Procopiot Rojas Jr., 39, of Hobbs, New Mexico, the driver of the Lincoln, was following the truck/trailer.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene by Carolyn Little, and his body taken to Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Rojas reported no injuries.

We use one of four images of DPS for DPS stories. There is a tactical reason we use these photos that I will not reveal here.
