Driver Extracted from Pickup After Crashing into Semi on US 87

 

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, the driver of a Chevy Colorado pickup traveling northbound on US 87, heading toward San Angelo, crashed into a semi tractor trailer attempting to make a right-hand turn off the interstate on Brodnax Lane, said Trooper Dykstra with the Department of Public Safety.

Dykstra said the driver of the pickup was speeding when he slammed into the semi. After the crash, the driver of the Colorado was trapped in the vehicle, and emergency personnel had to cut the door off to extract him, the trooper said.

“He was transported to the hospital for treatment,” Dykstra added. He also noted that the driver of the truck tractor was not injured.

The driver of the pickup will receive a citation for failure to control speed.

As far as I know, I-87 is in New York state. Did you mean US Route 87?
