Big Spring Man Dies in Rollover Crash

A young man from Big Spring was killed in a rollover crash near Stanton early Sunday morning.

According to the Texas DPS, Martin Diaz, Jr., 23, of Big Spring was traveling eastbound on I-20 at 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning. Approximately eight miles east of Stanton, Diaz’s 2002 Ford Explorer veered left off the roadway and into the center median. DPS said that Diaz over-corrected, causing the Explorer to roll. The Explorer came to a stop upside down in the center median facing northeast.

DPS reported that Diaz was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Pam McAnally (Pct. 2, Martin County).

DPS reported the weather was clear and the roadway dry. Next-of-kin have been notified.
