One Dead When F-150 Collides with Honda Civic Near Seminole

 

A 32-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision 14 miles north of Seminole on U.S. 62 last night.

According to the Texas DPS, an El Paso man, Coby Douglas Michell was driving his 2008 Honda Civic north in an opposite lane. U.S. 62 is a four-lane divided highway where he was driving. At the same time, Susana Goertzen was traveling south on the correct side of the highway in an F-150 packed with passengers.

The F-150 struck the Honda, killing one of the truck’s passengers, 32-year-old Susana Freissen of Seminole. The F-150’s driver and the other two passengers were rushed to various hospitals and are listed in critical condition, as was the driver of the Civic. There were no passengers in the Civic.

The location of the crash (approximate):

DPS reports that the roadway was dry and the skies clear. The speed limit along that stretch of highway is 75 mph. The crash happened at 8:55 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Critically injured in the crash were Helena Goertzen, 55, of Seminole, and a 13-year-old juvenile male, also of Seminole. Both were passengers in the F-150.
