Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Tuesday Morning

A 52-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash yesterday morning on state highway 153 after being ejected from the vehicle.

According to a press release issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Julie Ham Garwick was headed north on 153 in Nolan County in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, when she veered left across the southbound lane and partly into the west barrow ditch.

Garwick then overcorrected and lost control, DPS said. The vehicle rolled several times in the west barrow ditch, during which Garwick was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, where she died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash occurred at 1:50 a.m., DPS said, approximately 5.8 miles northwest of Wingate. Garwick, of Live Oak, was pronounced dead by San Angelo doctor Benton Brown.

DPS Trooper Bryan Keith is still investigating the crash.
