Child Killed in Own Home When Drunk Driver Crashes into Residence

 

Late Saturday night, Aug. 15, a single-vehicle crash into a residence claimed the life of an occupant inside the home, a 4-year-old child, Texas DPS reported.

According to the report, Aaron Craig Hinman, 24, of Fort Worth was traveling north on SH 349 inside the town of Sheffield and failed to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed. His 2014 Ford F-150 pickup traveled across a traffic island and crashed into the residence and killed 4-year old Jonah Stille of Sheffield. The F-150 came to a rest upright inside the home, DPS reported.

Hinman was drunk, DPS reported. The roadway was dry and the skies were clear. The crash happened at 11:15 p.m. and the speed limit was 35 mph.

Update 2:47 p.m.

DPS announced that Hinman was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a second degree felony as well as Injury to a child, a state jail felony.
