Young Girl Dies in Sutton County Rollover

A 10-year-old girl was killed in a rollover accident Thursday morning west of Sonora on Interstate 10.

According to the crash report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jaqueline Garcia, 10; Salvador Garcia, 41; Lupita Garcia, 42 and Mia Isabela Rios, 5; were traveling westbound on I-10 in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons.

The driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times. Jaqueline, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle as it struck a rock embankment and came to a rest on its right side facing northeast.

The three other occupants, who were wearing their seatbelts, were hospitalized at Lillian Memorial Hudspeth Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
