SAPD was redirecting traffic during the noon hour at the corner of E. Harris Ave. and Bell St. around a blue custom motorcycle that was laid down in the middle of the street.
Sgt. Kennedy, SAPD traffic, said a maroon Dodge Durango was north bound on Bell St. as the blue motorcycle was traveling south towards the base when the driver of the Durango failed to see the motorcyclist, failed to yield the right of way and collided with the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, Colby Hedgepath, 28, was taken to Shannon Medical Center in an ambulance from the scene with non-life-threating injuries. The driver of the Durango, Jesse Webb, Jr., 61, was uninjured and did not seek medical attention, but was however issued a citation for failure to yield a right of way.
Hedgepath is stationed on Goodfellow Air Force base. His custom motorcycle was loaded into the back of a pick-up truck of another military member who arrived shortly after Hedgepath was taken to the hospital.

Praying for a quick recovery, brother. Glad you made it out of that one alive. Next time keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up! If you need anything at all I'd be happy to help!

PermalinkWith the drivers around here it would be safer to save the bike for another town.
